A little about me:
About Jennika
1
I was the girl that spent a large majority of her younger years at craft bazaars with her mom selling macrame baskets and hand-sewn teddy bears. While most kids were involved in after school sports I was painting and designing the latest fashion in Barbie clothes. Don’t get me wrong, I dabbled in various sporting activities and actually had a 12 year passionate love affair with ballet (until my knees required me to hang up my toe shoes). But, finding any and every way to utilize creativity has always been my true passion.

My love of design eventually led me to the University of Idaho where I obtained a degree in Graphic Design. Upon graduation I worked at a design firm for a number of years. After marrying my college sweetheart in 2002, we found ourselves moving to the small town of Mountain Home, Idaho where I decided to focus on having a family instead of commuting 45 minutes to work each day. Three handsome boys and two sweet labradoodles later, our life seemed to be turning out better than we had ever imagined.

When life seemed like it couldn’t get any better, I was devastated with a blow I never saw coming. In June of 2017, my seemingly beautiful world fell apart when I was diagnosed with stage 2, her2 positive breast cancer. 6 rounds of chemo, 30 rounds of radiation, a double mastectomy and complete breast reconstruction later, I can honestly say I have a completely new lease on life. I was given a second chance and promised myself from that moment I would never take anything for granted and live every second to its fullest. I promised to get more sleep, stress less, love more… all the things that are easy to say but hard to do.

Now I’m a better, healthier, happier me, and I’m finally fulfilling my dream of being a full-time designer and sharing my creative inspirations with women of all ages!

Fleurished Explained
Why the name ‘Fleurished’?
As a certified perfectionist, I spent months racking my brain for the most perfect, witty name that both represents me and the work I do. Once I found and designed my studio, I was completely enamored. I’ve always had a love for interior decorating, but designing my shed took my creativity to a whole new level. Finding simple solutions to perfectly fit in a small, confined space really got my creative heart beating!
I decided to incorporate the love of my tiny space into my name. I googled words with ‘shed’ in them, and stumbled upon ‘flourished’. The definition not only described my goals as a designer, but also my love for my new creative space. One step further, I am a forever lover of all things romantic and floral, so I changed ‘flour’ to ‘fleur’ as to speak to my french romantic flower-loving side!
