She Shed, Continued…

As promised, here’s the post with all the juicy details on where I got the decor for my shed. If you missed the original shed post, you can catch up here

Creating my shed definitely challenged me spatially as a designer but it was also the most rewarding project I’ve completed to date! I have a simplistic and clean design approach, but that proved to be very difficult in a tiny space. With so many amazing products to choose from, narrowing down my choices was not easy!

The first thing I chose was my loveseat. I wanted my space to be cozy but not crowded, so I couldn’t go over 70” in length. I searched for what seemed like months for the perfect color, texture and size. Finally, thanks to Anthropologie, I found exactly what I was looking for!

It’s probably difficult to see from the photo but it’s a soft velvet with puffy pillow cushions.

The only problem was getting it here. I swear it came on a slow boat from China and took months to arrive. Thankfully it was on sale, so it was worth the wait!

Next was finding a storage unit that was functional but small enough to not overtake the room. For this I relied on Urban Outfitters. If you’ve never shopped there for home decor and you’re into a bohemian flair, you have to check them out. Their collection is amazing, very affordable and they update their inventory every few weeks.

The next step, a rug. There are SO many rugs to choose from it can be very overwhelming! I focused first on something thin (to wash easily) but with a soft texture. Shopping for rugs online isn’t ideal when you have a certain texture in mind, so I had to rely heavily on customer reviews. I ended up seeing a photo of perfect rug on Pinterest and after scouring the internet, finally found it on Amazon! The second I unrolled it I knew it was perfect for the space. The colors were ideal, the material so soft and the weight was exactly what I was hoping for.

I knew I needed a coffee table, but only had space for a very small one. Sticking with the bohemian flair I found the perfect piece at Cost Plus, by accident. I was there looking for throw pillows and the perfect wooden side table was sitting all alone in the middle of an aisle begging me to take it home. Unfortunately the stockroom associate told me it was a display piece and not for sale. Luckily I was able to schmooze the cashier and she let me buy it!

The space under the window sill needed a little something. I wanted something to hang in the corner to keep the space clean and simple, but didn’t think I could find exactly that. Fortunately, while searching for storage units at Urban Outfitters I ran across this gem!

My barstools were also from Cost Plus. I loved the wicker seats in combination with the metal legs. The only complaint I have is they’re not exceptionally comfortable for long periods of time, but I managed to find a few simple cushions to soften them up a bit.

The thing I had the hardest time settling on was lighting. After what seemed like months of searching I finally found a set of beautiful vintage inspired sconces on Etsy, and the chandelier from Anthropologie. I do wish my chandelier was a little bigger but I wasn’t willing to spend the money necessary to make it happen. In hindsight, it’s nice that it’s out of the way and it provides great light!

Finally, the sweetest addition to my shed, my sidekick Phoebe. No space is complete without a furry friend, and there’s never a moment when I’m in there when she’s not by my side. In fact, her pet portrait is the first thing I see when I walk into my shed. For those of you who are creature people, you have to check out their website. I promise you’ll be happy you did!
